[SoR] Tobio Xiao 3.0

<sub>As a pup, he and Yang Xiao, his older brother, spent their time playing pretend.  Their favorite game of pretend was Royals as they would act as if they were in the line of duty.  Already knowing that he was to be the next Jack of Spades, Tobio took up that role whenever they played while his brother switched in between the King, a messenger and an adviser like their parents.  Most of his time was spent in a lack of understanding as to how his brother was so energetic and clumsy, but never teased him for it.  Whenever the time came for training, Yang would bounce in to join and Tobio was grateful to be in company of his older brother.  He was aware that Yang was trying to find a role to fit into and he tried helping him with assassination studies before his brother was turned down at the gate.  Visibly a little frustrated for him, Yang would reassure Tobio that it was okay and that he wasn't super interested in it anyway.  Tobio watched as his brother continued to try different things before utterly giving up and spending his time with Numbered Royals.

His training progressed and sometimes he would catch a glimpse of the Ace of Spades, Hoishi, as the fox was on his way to a different field to train as well.  Curious, he made a mental note to approach him some day, but never got to it as he would be too tired and often forgot once Yang came running to him to share what he'd done with the Numbered Royals.  Quietly, he hoped Yang would develop a number as Tobio felt that Yang fit in the most with them.  Unfortunately Yang never did, which prompted Tobio to call him the 'Numberless Royal' in the background, as Yang seemed to fit in the most with the Numbered Royals.  For a while Tobio harbored a desire to see his brother finally find something he could be happy with and would often theorize over which number Yang would be.

More time passed and his suit never developed.  Months earlier the appointed Ace of Spades had been exiled and the current Ace of Spades, his mother, left the kingdom with her kit.  Not much later he was on the hot plate as well, advisers constantly inspecting his fur for a Spade that would never develop.  After being announced privately, he was to be exiled the next day in a humiliating ceremony, Yang being passed the title of Jack of Spades in a frenzied display as he was lead out, stones and garbage hurled his way.  From behind, he heard the adviser who was to appoint Yang the title of Jack of Spades silence the crowd and the only sound left was his mother's weeping.

Bitter, he used his training to steal and survive outside of the walls of a kingdom.  As it was difficult to blame so many, Tobio shifted his bitterness onto his brother unjustly, knowing himself that it was wrong, but he had nothing else to blame other than a shape.  For a while he spent his time near the walls, catching wind by passing guards that his father had disappeared and his mother had died of grief, only magnifying his anger.  He was eventually chased away as many had spotted him and the priority of chasing him away as a dangerous canine rose.  Out of anger, he took the Spade pendant the Jack's received and broke it, using it as a final break in loyalty and trust to the kingdom.

He didn't spend much more time alone as he ran into the ex-Ace of Spades, Hoishi.  Upon seeing the pendant, the fox lashed out at him in a fit of rage and being more agile, was able to cut into his neck.  After a long struggle, Tobio managed to calm the other Joker and despite being wounded by him.  They didn't immediately begin traveling together, but after multiple run-ins, they eventually made an agreement to do so.  "I don't like it when they can see my face," Tobio had said once and thus they robbed a merchant of two of his masks and began using them as aliases.</sub>
